Membury Malting Barley Partnership
This partnership was formed in 2008 with the Crisp Malting Group based in Norfolk.
The Crisp Group had commissioned the building of a storage facility for Malting Barley at the Ridgeway Grain site near Membury Services on the M4. Western Arable were invited to be one of the three supplying merchants of farmers' barley to the facility.
The facility has a capacity of 16,000 tonnes and we are supplying 5,000 tonnes annually.
Currently the preferred variety is Laureate with opportunities in the future to add or replace with improved varieties as they are developed.
There is scope for expanding both the tonnage and the membership numbers in the future.
